This photo was taken one early morning before heading out to perform an archaeology excavation. Cave Point was only 15 minutes away from the hotel and couldn't resist the opportunity to take in a sunrise at one of Door County's famous locales. Arriving at 5:00am and waiting for the sun to break over Lake Michigan.

It was the evening before I began my journey thru backpacking the rugged Border Route Trail in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. I was camping at Jay Cooke State Park and took in the remaining sunlight on the famous swing bridge that crosses the St. Croix River. It truly instilled my excitement for my upcoming 60-mile journey.

Ironically, this sunset photo was taken the same day when I took the above Cave Point sunrise. After a day of work, I traveled to the other side of Door County to savor the sunset at Peninsula State Park; particularly the location for the eastern terminus of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

I was in the area last October reviewing an archaeology project. My hotel was nearby Interstate State Park (Wisconsin side). I was excited to check out the western terminus of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. Not only did I experience this beautiful segment of the Ice Age, I was overwhelmed by the golden glamor of October.
